“It will happen in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for
all the peoples.  All who burden themselves with it will be severely wounded,
and all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it.”
(Zechariah 12:)

The Bible describes that in the End Times, the nations will lay siege to Jerusalem and that God will miraculously deliver Israel. Since the nations have sought to oppress and destroy Jerusalem throughout Israel’s long history, it should come as no surprise that today the nations ofthe world are divided over the legal status of Jerusalem. Although over the centuries Jerusalem has not always remained under Jewish control, it has always remained central to Judaism. Today, the Palestinian Authority with the support of all the Islamic nations want to divide Jerusalem and make east Jerusalem the capital of their yet-to-be-declared “Palestinian State”, even though this city has never been considered the most
holy city in Islam.

The holiest sites of Islam are in the cities of Mecca and Medina which are located in Saudi Arabia, not Israel. The Palestinians also want the borders of this new “Palestinian State” to be based upon what they call the ‘1967 borders.’ These so-called borders are not borders at all. They are the truce lines drawn in 1949, after the War of Independence—also known as the 1948 Arab-Israeli War—when Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Yemen invaded the newly declared State of Israel.

Remember that all of this took place just after the end of the Holocaust. After six million Jews (half of the world’s Chosen People) were murdered in the death camps of Europe, many of the remaining Jews came here to Israel.  In 1949, the United Nations declared Israel as the Jewish homeland and Biblical prophecies of Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Jeremiah were fulfilled! Eighteen years after these truce lines were established in 1949, the Arab world once again amassed against Israel in 1967 to wipe the tiny Jewish nation off the face of the map.  However, their plans failed and this time Israel captured the territory taken by the Arabs in 1949.

This is the story of some of the miracles that led to that victory in 1967.

Arabs Amass Against Israel in 1967 In May 1967, the Israeli government knew an impending attack was near. Israelis were frightened to learn that Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Russia were amassing, and they greatly outnumbered the Israeli forces. With the Egypt army deployed against Israel in the Sinai Desert, Syrian forces hunkered down in the Golan Heights, Jordan’s armies under Egypt’s command, and other Arab nation army contingents bolstering the threat against Israel, the Arab world confidently celebrated their expected victory. In response to the threat, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservists were called to duty.

A critical miracle occurred on behalf of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on day one of the conflict. As the IAF aircraft approached Egyptian air bases for a pre-emptive strike, they were flying low to avoid detection by numerous Arab radar locations. A Jordanian officer detected the planes and sent a coded message to Amman, the capital of Jordan.  Jordan headquarters encrypted the message and forwarded it to Cairo.  What Jordan didn’t know, however, was that the Egyptian codes had been changed the day before!

The Lord had provided the element of surprise, just like He did thousands of years earlier when Joshua and later, King David had to protect Israel from her neighbors.

Six Egyptian airfields were flattened: two in Egypt and four in the Sinai Desert. Roughly half of the Egyptian Air Force (204 planes) were demolished. Although the Egyptian order for anti-aircraft missiles could have been made, miraculously the order to fire them was not given.  Now just Who intervened? Two-thirds of the Syrian Air Force was destroyed on this same day, and Israel took over a Jordanian government building in Jerusalem. The Old City of Jerusalem had been under Jordanian rule ever since Jordan invaded Israel in 1948, but now Jerusalem was firmly in Israeli hands.

Another miracle occurred on June 6th, when fatigued IAF pilots flew to the Sinai Desert to capture the Egyptian station of Kusseima.  During the air approach thunderous explosions were noted. For no clear explanation, the Egyptians had destroyed their equipment and left the base.  Egyptians were abandoning their posts throughout the region. Meanwhile, there were more than 70,000 Syrian troops on the Golan Heights. From their fortified positions they routinely assaulted Jews in villages below this area.

A small unit of heroic Israelis began their rushing ascent.  Heavy casualties were expected as fierce fighting ensued. However, the Syrians deserted their positions and weapons. News agencies had reported that the Syrian troops saw legions of the Israeli army coming at them.  Now just Who intervened? Obviously they all saw the same vision, or the Lord sent his legions of angels.

Modern Miracles: Scripture and history books have documented that miracles have taken place in Israel throughout its history. Almost everyone knows about the story of Pharaoh, the plagues, and the parting of the Red Sea, which gave Israel safe flight from Egypt.  This miracle of mammoth proportions was formulated by God Himself. The logistics were tremendous.  The sea gap must have been many miles wide for many hours to get everyone through in a timely manner.  We believe that during the 1967 Six-Day War God fashioned multiple miracles similar to the Red Sea partings on behalf of Israel.

Behold, He who keeps Israel, Shall neither slumber nor sleep. (Psalm 121:4) Although Jerusalem has not always been under Jewish control, it has always been the Holy City for the Jewish people for more than 3000 years.  We know that in the Last Days when the nations gather against Jerusalem, the triumphant return of Messiah Yeshua is at hand. “In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them.  It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” (Zechariah 12:8-9)

While the enemies of Israel continue to plot her downfall, God is not finished with Israel.  He will intervene to save his people completely, both physically and spiritually. Any plans to divide Jerusalem are not of God and will utterly fail to bring peace. A return to the Armistice Lines is designed to once again leave Israel’s borders insecure and perhaps, indefensible. We urge you to stand solidly with Israel, doing everything possible to help the
Jewish People to know about Yeshua (Jesus) as we are now in the Last Days.
